What is an airbrush tan and why get one?
Airbrush tanning is the next generation of tanning. It is quick,
safe and gives you instant color. Repeated exposure to UV (Ultraviolet Radiation)
is damaging and aging to the skin and could lead to skin cancer. According to
the American Academy of Dermatology, spray tanning is the safest and healthiest
way to tan. An airbrush tan only takes one session to achieve a tan whereas
laying in the sun or use of tanning beds usually takes several sessions to achieve a tan.
How does it work?
Tanning solutions contains the active ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone).
It is a colorless sugar that reacts with the proteins in the outer layer of skin
and produces a color change. DHA is FDA approved and has been in the cosmetics industry
since 1970. Sunless Sensation carries extra light, light, medium, dark, extra dark,
organic and a rapid tan solution. We also offer a mobile service where we can
come to you, or you can come to our location.
How should I prepare for my spray tan appointment?
To prepare for your sunless tanning session you should shave and
exfoliate the day before or morning of your appointment. In order
for your skin to absorb the DHA, make sure you don't wear any oils,
lotions, perfumes, deodorants or makeup on your skin. Avoid massages,
facials, manicures, pedicures, working out or getting wet after your
spray tan session. The tan needs to develop over the next 8-10 hours
before you can shower. For people with sensitive skin, shave and
exfoliate the night before your appointment.
What should I wear and bring to my spray tan appointment?
We recommend you wear a dark colored bathing suit or bra and underwear
for your spray tan session. We suggest you wear them inside out or
wear an old garment that you don't care if it gets discolored. You
can also wear shorts and a tank top if you prefer. Wear what ever
you are comfortable in. We deal with all shapes, sizes and ages so
please don't feel self-conscious or embarrassed. After your session,
wear loose-fitting, dark clothing and bring flip flops, chapstick
and a hair tie.
How long will it last?
Your tan will last about 5-10 days. The better condition your skin
is in and the more you moisturize the longer your tan will last.
Your spray tanning appointment will take a total of 15-20 minutes.
